October Long Weekend Labour Day
The first Monday in October is Labour Day, a public holiday in New South Wales, which gives you a long weekend to explore the state. Head to one of the beautiful white sand beaches as the weather warms up and explore Booderee National Park on the Labour Day Weekend.
Family fun
The October long weekend falls right in the middle of the school holidays and there are lots of fun things for kids to do. Fly through the air on a flying fox at Tree Top Adventure Park, meet the animals at Shoalhaven Zoo, take surf lessons from JB Surf School at pristine beaches in Booderee NP, and take a breathtaking cruise in beautiful Jervis Bay to see the dolphins.
Outdoor adventures
Gorgeous Spring days mean it’s a great time to be outside. Visit Cape St George Historical Lighthouse, walk through Booderee Botanical Gardens, follow the White Sands Walk in Jervis Bay.
On the water, you can try paddleboarding in Currambene Creek (speak to the office staff about hire) or snorkel with seals with Woebegone Freediving. It’s a great time to learn to surf with JB Surf School, or learn to scuba dive with Dive Jervis Bay. October is the tail end of whale watching season as migrating humpbacks make their way back to Antarctica – Jervis Bay is one of the best viewing points, cruise with Jervis Bay Wild or Dolphin Watch Cruises Jervis Bay.
